Special Ceremonies at HSR

“There are exactly as many special occasions in life as we choose to celebrate.”
Robert Brault

Inside you’ll find pictures, videos and more of special ceremonies that were used to dedicate some part of the Horseshoe Scout Reservation.

Rose Chase, environmental advocate and the earliest champion of preserving Goat Hill, stands by (from left) Dick Sprenkle, Joe Fraschetta, Bud Cook (partially hidden) and one of Octoraro's youth representatives as she cuts the ribbon to inaugurate the "Rose Trail".

Many Scouters have contributed thousands upon thousands of hours to the Scouting program, and in particular, Horseshoe Scout Reservation. These ceremonies and plaques honor their contributions to making HSR and Scouting that much better.

Scout Executive Eric Magendantz honors long-time supporter of Camp Ware, Bill Robertson, of Oxford Troop 44, at the 8th Annual HSRAA Reunion.

The Royal Order of Siam (or ROS, for short) was the brainchild of Malvern 7 Scoutmaster Ken Yeager, and it was a ceremony during the 1960s and 1970s whereby Scouts from Malvern 7 and some staff would go through initiation rites in an evening ceremony that included some awfully strange customs.

A Scout going through one of the trials and tribulations of the Royal Order of Siam.

HSR has hosted a number of special dinners to celebrate staff or other occasions. While not “ceremonial” per se, they are as important a tradition as any other.

Staffers and volunteers enjoy dinner at Camp Horseshoe, celebrating the great efforts of HSR volunteers.

Once in a great while, there is an Eagle Recognition Banquet held at Horseshoe Scout Reservation. Inside this exhibit you will find wonderful items chronicling the achievements of these Scouts.

Eagle Scout honorees at the 2021 Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner recite the Scout Oath and Law.

Often several Scouters have such an affinity for HSR that they decide to get married there. Here are some displays of those weddings.
