What did this decade hold for Horseshoe Scout Reservation? Lots of facility improvement projects were done for HSR, and many new dynamic programs Scouts and Scouters have come to depend on were instituted.
HSR Highlights: Snow storms cause some damage at HSR; HSRAA works on a North-South wall along the side of the Camp Horseshoe Parade Field.
In this Year: Deepwater Horizon oil platform explodes in the Gulf of Mexico killing 11 and spilling nearly 5 million barrels into the Gulf; a 7.0-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Haiti kills 230,000 and is one of the deadliest in history;

OA Bridge Snow Damage

The OA Bridge could not stand up to the weight of the heavy snow dumped by a blizzard in 2010. The Bald Eagles nesting nearby would delay the repairs.

Completed Woodshed

Octoraro Flooding

In September 2010, several days of hard rain turned the Octoraro Creek into a bloated swell that jumped the banks and flooded out some of the low-lying areas of HSR.

Mason-Dixon Marker

Price Stevenson III relates the tale of the Mason-Dixon line as it applies to Camp Horseshoe and the marker on its property. 2015 is the 250th anniversary of the Mason-Dixon line coming through the property (1765), though the actual cement marker was placed a year later (1766).

HSR Highlights: A massive storm hits HSR on March 2, 2018.
In This Year: Prince Harry marries Meghan Markle with an estimated audience of 1.9 billion people; massive wildfires in California do extensive damage;
Limbs of downed pine trees are dragged to the chipper by the Trail Crew event participants on March 10th, 2018. The trees came down as part of a massive storm that hit the reservation on March 2nd, 2018.
The Sluice, Up Close
