A Scout cares about other people. They willingly volunteer to help others without expecting payment or reward…

Whether it’s at an OA service weekend, patrol project or the countless other Scouts and Scouters who come to HSR to help on random weekends, all find opportunities to assist their camps and, by extension, their fellow man.

Ordeal candidates work to relandscape the area between the dining hall and the OA Lodge building after lodge renovations had completed.

Lodge members and candidates pose for this photo after a long morning of building a trail 1/3 mile long, from scratch.

Underbrush and greenbriar were no match for the OA Trail Crew on the Green Trail.

The first step in getting the pool ready for summer is removing any remaining rain (of flood) water.

Cleaning the pool is a typical April Ordeal weekend activity for candidates and brothers alike.

The staff hoists the new Achgeketum Circle totem poles.

Members of the Octoraro Lodge put a new roof on the OA Lodge in 1993.

A familiar site at Camp includes Bill Trowill and Bob Matje Sr. working on one of the construction projects.

Limbs of downed pine trees are dragged to the chipper by the Trail Crew event participants on March 10th, 2018. The trees came down as part of a massive storm that hit the reservation on March 2nd, 2018.

Some Scouters are seen here building on a new washstand building for the reservation.

This Scouter is making sure locations such as the Kindness Center (seen here) get their fire extinguishers filled or replaced.

Trench Building

Cleaning Upper Kindness
The Camp Horseshoe staff sweeps out the Kindness Center during staff week. The huge square footage of the building makes this a multi-person task, but because Art merit badge is held in Upper Kindness, the place must be spotless before camp opens.

An Ordeal Line helps the wood chipping crew create mulch for various locations in Camp.
