All the attendees of the Health Lodge Dedication on July 22nd, 1944 signed this tickertape.  The tickertape was found amongst the artifacts in the Health Lodge Time Capsule discovered in the Health Lodge chimney during renovations in 2003.

This Daily Local News article describes Chester County Council’s plans to dedicate the Morrison Health Lodge on July 22nd, 1944. Amazingly, the article was found above the fold on the first page, surrounded by stories of heroism from post D-day WWII battles. This was one of the artifacts found in the Health Lodge Time Capsule discovered during the Health Lodge renovation in 2003.

Biography of Bentley Morrison

Horseshoe Scouts today may recognize the name Bentley Morrison in conjunction with the Health Lodge which bears his name.  The Morrison Health Lodge was dedicated in memory of Reverend Bentley R. Morrison at the 1944 Roberts’ Day at Camp Horseshoe.  Dignitaries including the Honorable Owen J. Roberts, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court and Chairman of the Chester County Council BSA Board of Trustees and Dr. E. K. Fretwell, Chief Scout Executive of the National Council BSA.

Reverend Morrison was the Scoutmaster of Warwick Troop 41 and served on Horseshoe Camp staff in the late 1930’s where he ran a Nature Camp for older boys in the Natureheart campsite.
