Before the Horseshoe 500 race can begin, the racers must first learn the “rules of the road”.

To ensure that no engines catch on fire, the crew is ready to cool down the racers as they make their way around the bend.

Racers must first check in with the pit crew before beginning their second lap to change their tires. After the second lap they return to pit to switch drivers. The second driver then runs a lap, changes his tires, and then runs the final lap around the track.

Each den can build a box car and race it on Saturday Afternoon down in the Athletic Field at the annual Horseshoe 500 during the Horseshoe Trails Webelos Woods. The winners of the race are announced at the campfire later that night.
