Welcome to the new HSRAA website! We are excited to share our new design and features with you!
Every 5-10 years or so, it’s time for a refresh. Think of it as a new coat of paint for the interior of your house. In this case, the website was in need of some new paint, some new drywall, and some foundation work. The underlying code was custom, and rather than trying to maintain custom code in perpetuity, we decided to go to a common platform – WordPress – that many website developers and content creators are familiar with. It also allows us to use existing plugins from WordPress to create dynamic pages, search options, and a variety of other features.

After about a year of development, the addition of another 1,000 images from contributors to the Virtual Museum, and lots of elbow grease, the new website is here!
Some of the additional new features include:
- Image gallery filtering for some galleries.
- A much-improved search feature, including being able to search on an artifact year and who contributed it.
- Improved page layout for both desktop and mobile browsers.
- Nearly 100% of all VM artifacts now have captions.
- A top menu with sub menus that take you directly to the page you want to visit.
- Text tips for providing additional information about a term.
- 8 self-guided tours that are customized for a variety of interests.
We hope you spend some time looking around the website and especially the Virtual Museum!
