The symbol of the Eagle was chosen as the “habitation habits” of the national bird caused much disappointment in those wanting to visit Flagpole Hill in 2005.
2006 Camp Horseshoe Staff Plaque

The pteradactyl carving featured on the 2006 staff plaque is a reference to William R. Hess, longtime Reservation Manager, benefactor and generous friend to all, who passed away prior to the 2006 camping season. Bill had been known as the pteradactyl and “The Facilitator”, but also as the man behind the curtain who contributed greatly to the success of the Reservation.
2007 Camp Horseshoe Staff Plaque

This monstrosity – celebrating the 80th anniversary Camp Horseshoe staff – is nearly 16 square feet and is easily the largest current staff plaque in the Allen Memorial Dining Hall. It was not hung for quite some time as the kitchen staff had to make enough room for it to be mounted.
